"Retired" Nick Diaz Putting Up a Surprisingly Vigorous Defense To His Reefer Suspension

MMAfighting reports that Nick Diaz’s attorney is putting up quite a fight to throw out Diaz’s suspension, despite the fact the fighter proclaimed himself to be retired.  He was assumed to be un-retired (he’s been silent since his controversial loss) when the rematch with Condit was announced. But when his failed test for smoking too many dank nugs was revealed, we all assumed that he was retired again, which seemed to be corroborated by Nate Diaz’s comments to Ariel Helwani recently.

Now Nick has decided to burn some cash on an attorney to try and fight his suspension, which provides some hope to those of us who didn’t want to see the talented welterweight go out on such a boring fight.

The argument seems to be that because Nick stopped burning heady trees eight days before his fight, and wasn’t high during the fight, (as some surmised he was during the last fight that led to a failed drug test) he should get off. If you want to get way more into it, there’s a ton of really great information over at fightopinion.com. I did enough lawyering in meatspace today and I’m burnt, but maybe I’ll scope it out tomorrow and let you know if Nick’s attorney has a decent argument.
